Hi there. Well it’s my first week back home and I am steadily getting back into a routine. Being away from my family for over 3 months was pretty tough, and I am relishing being back. I am so lucky to live in a great community of people who do nothing but praise me and give me support. Thankyou!
As much as I loved the thrill of the Masterchef kitchen, there is nothing quite like being back home and in my own kitchen. I could not wait to start cooking for my boys again. Cooking for my family is one of my greatest pleasures. I love making homemade treats for my boys, and have always had a cookie jar on my kitchen bench that is guaranteed to be full of their favourites. It is ceramic with a suction lid that makes a distinct noise when it is lifted. Even our dog Jaxon comes running when he hears that sound. If the lid is lifted and the jar is empty, the look on my boy’s faces is one of shock. Its like the Grinch stole Christmas !! ‘What? There’s nothing in here!!’ Even their school friends who come over to visit know that anything in the cookie jar is there to be eaten. I encourage them to help themselves. It’s a tradition I wish to continue. It’s a part of my boy’s childhood I want them to remember. How I wish to be remembered.
So, back in my kitchen I’m reaching for butter, sugar, chocolate and of course the M&M’s. The kids have been calling these ‘Smartie Cookies’ since they were toddlers (even though I actually use M&M’s, but either works). I just call them yummy!!
Mum is back, and the cookie jar is full again.. wonder how long they’ll last? And more importantly can Mum sneak one for herself ? It’s nice to be home x
